Frequently Asked Questions
Article 13 of the Standard Business Regulations (Validity Period of Certification)
① The validity period of the certification is, in principle, three years from the date the certificate is issued.
② If the certification holder wishes to extend the certification after the validity period has expired, they must submit the application for extension of the certification validity period (Annex Form 12) to the head of the certification body at least one month before the expiration date. In this case, the head of the certification body may extend the certification validity period unless there are grounds for cancellation of the certification as stipulated in Article 17.
③ If the certification validity period is extended, the head of the certification body must reissue the certificate.

Step-by-step Review Guide
Document Review → Factory Inspection → Parts Inspection (Testing Institution) → Issuance
Document Review
Submit relevant documents to the alternative parts certification body (hereinafter referred to as the Korea Automobile Parts Association) to obtain certification for alternative parts.
The certification body reviews the submitted documents, and if the document review criteria are met, the application is approved.
If both the document review and factory inspection are passed, the certification body designates a testing institution to conduct parts testing. Final approval is granted if the certification standards are met.
Certified companies attach the certification seal (certification mark) issued by the certification body to certified parts for sale.
The certification body and the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport monitor the proper production and sale of certified alternative parts. Non-compliant issues are subject to corrective measures such as certification cancellation or sales suspension.
*To expedite the factory inspection, prepare both the required documents for document review and factory inspection simultaneously.
For parts that do not fall under verifiable items, please contact the association's secretariat.
If the production facility is overseas, a total of three personnel—two inspectors and one coordinator—will directly visit the overseas factory to conduct the inspection.
